SKIN-TO-SKIN

A nurturing postnatal ritual created for the earliest weeks of motherhood.

Your baby can feed, sleep, snuggle and rest against you, whilst you are tended to yourself.

Because in these early weeks, caring for the mother is caring for the baby too.

*Suitable for newborns up to 10-12 weeks old

A RITUAL BUILT AROUND THE TWO OF YOU

The Skin-to-Skin Ritual isn’t simply The Postnatal Ritual with your baby in the room. It has been intentionally created around you both.

For babies up to 10-12 weeks old, the Skin-to-Skin Ritual‍ allows your newborn to remain right beside you. This allows you to feed, rock, and enjoy plenty of co-regulating skin-to-skin connection, whilst you are cared for and lovingly worshipped.

You hold your baby. I hold you.

There is no schedule your baby needs to follow and no pressure for them to sleep through.

Massage and bodywork

Gentle touch

Warmth

Nourishment

Rocking

Breath

Hair and scalp work

Gentle moments where nothing is required of you at all.

MOTHERING THE MOTHER

We were never meant to do this alone.

Many new mothers find themselves completely “touched out” - constantly needed, constantly giving - and yet at the same time, starved of the kind of nurturing, healing touch their own body needs.

This is where the mother needs to have love and life gently breathed back into her.

Nurturing intentional touch, adequate recovery, and nervous system support are not luxuries or self-indulgent.

They are fundamental human needs.

Enter the Cocoon…

THE ARRIVAL

Step inside the cocoon and settle into your seat as a soft, warm wheat bag is placed around your shoulders inviting you to exhale for the first time all day.

Your baby may lie down beside you in the cosy rocking chair, feed or cuddle against your chest.

Take a sip from your herbal tea, carefully chosen to support healing during the postnatal period.

Many mothers tell me they cannot remember the last time they were asked

What do you need?

The ritual begins with this question. Here we take a moment to talk through the experience ahead: what you feel comfortable with, what you may be needing more of, and anything you would prefer to leave out or adapt along the way.

THE GROUNDING

For those who enjoy it, an optional, soothing foot bath and massage is offered.

Feet are slowly lowered into warm water.

Notice the heat of soft towels, the subtle scent of essential oils and the beauty of rose petals drifting around your toes.

Each element is layered…

Inviting your senses to settle and your whole body to soften.

THE HOLDING

As the experience deepens, the floor space becomes a place of slowing down and touch becomes immersive, rhythmic and beautifully caring.

Slow, postnatal bodywork begins to create space after months of growing and carrying. Areas of holding begin to unravel, the body feels lighter and more open, with a little more room to breathe.

Most women rarely get to experience being held and cared for in this way post-pregnancy - especially whilst in the presence of their baby.

The conditions for rest, recovery and a feeling of profound safety and connection are created through a combination of

Cradling

Rocking

Weightlessness

Hair play

Fabric-assisted bodywork

Swaddling & cocooning

&

Breath meeting breath

This is co-regulation at its deepest level, where one nervous system settles in the presence of another.

You hold your baby, whilst I hold you.

A nest within a nest.

SKIN-TO-SKIN

Chest to chest, heart to heart, melt into your massage with soft, slow, flowing strokes as your baby feeds, sleeps against your chest, or snuggles beside you.

Your baby experiences the warmth of your skin, your familiar scent, your slowed breathing beneath them and the rhythm of your heart.

Gentle music and ambient lighting create the perfect conditions for your baby to settle, whilst you experience a slow descent out of your mind and back into your body.

There is something beautifully powerful about allowing a mother to be held and cared for while she holds her baby.

Care moving through one body, and into another.

FEATHERLIGHT

The experience transitions into sensory touch.

Fingertips, nails, feathers, wooden scalp combs and soft brushes drift slowly across the skin.

Gentle, slow, intentional touch creates waves of sensation

Tingles travelling from spine to scalp,

Inviting your body deeper into stillness.

Quietening the mind and guiding your body to a restful, meditative state.

For some, this can feel incredibly soothing. Others may prefer deeper touch - everything is guided by choice.

Featherlight provides a feeling of being soothed, safe and profoundly cared for.

THE COCOON

At the heart of the ritual is the cocoon.

Held within layers of soft fabric as the body is gently supported.

Rocked

Contained

Held

Both you and your baby - a nest within a nest.

There is something both symbolic and physiological here.

The cocoon reflects one of life’s greatest transformations

becoming a mother.

But it also offers something the nervous system recognises instantly.

Rhythm,

Containment.

Gentle movement.

Proprioceptive and vestibular input -

working together to bring the body into a state of safety.

A subtle echo of the womb…

our first experience of being held.

THE EMERGENCE

There is no need to rush back into the outside world.

Take your time. Sip infused water, gather yourself and slowly return from stillness.

You leave feeling restored, replenished and more resourced for the days ahead.

More connected to both your body and your baby.
